After retiring as publisher of The Press in 2000, it didn't take Rick Hemmer long to realize that business was in his blood and living the retired life was not quite as appealing as he thought it was going to be. With nearly four decades of advertising experience to his credit, Rick decided to apply his talents to creating highly effective, affordable signage for other Northeast Ohio business owners. Rick and Terry Godfrey, former owner of Nightline Graphics, forged a working partnership and founded Affordable Signs & Graphics in Avon Lake in December 2005. We met with Rick and Terry recently, and listened as they provided this overview of Affordable Signs & Graphics' services;

Affordable Signs & Graphics is a full-service sign shop specializing in vinyl lettering and sandblasting for all types of signs and banners. We design and create banners and signs for vehicles, boats, events, and job sites, in addition to real estate, sporting event, restaurant, window, yard, and magnetic signs. No job is too large or too small, and we pride ourselves on our integrity and affordability.

We utilize state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment that enables us to apply cut vinyl, custom art, and photographs to a wide variety of surfaces. Terry has been designing and producing graphics for over twenty-five years, and his freehand art expertise provides us with the ability to create custom artwork that can be transfered to a multitude of sign faces to promote virtually every type of business imaginable.

We have created the large, re-usable banner used as the entrance for the players of the Avon Lake Shoremen football and basketball teams as they run onto the court or playing field. The banner has proven so effective that we are now in the process of designing similar re-usable breakaway banners for other area sports teams.

Both of us grew up in the Avon Lake community, have lived here for most of our lives, and have a good rapport with the local business community, schools, and churches.
