Safe T Spin

In the mid-1970s, Richard and Heidi Suhm's young son, Garrett, was injured while riding his bicycle on Lake Road in Avon Lake. He wasn't seriously injured, although the experience did prompt Richard to search for ways to make cycling safer for both the cyclists and other motorists. After he invented a reflective safety signal, he applied for and received a patent on his new device. In 1976 he founded Safe T Spin to market his invention. We met with Richard and Heidi recently, and listened as they described their contribution to the world of safety;

Safe T Spin units are extremely well-built. All brackets are manufactured of 14-gauge steel and are powder-coated to withstand severe weather conditions. All brackets are riveted to the warning signal to prevent theft and to avoid producing flying debris in the event of a collision. The units themselves are constructed from heavy-duty polyethylene covered with 3M diamond grade reflective material.
