Current Conditions on Your Street - For
telling the weather on your street, it's hard to beat a system
developed by our ancestors and taught to me by my father nearly
fifty years ago. It's not only economical, but it's accuracy cannot
be disputed. First, tie a string around a rock that weighs
approximately one pound. Next, tie the other end of the string to a
tree branch in a manner that positions the rock and string to allow
the string to hang perpendicular to the branch, unencumbered by
other branches or obstructions. When you want to know the weather
on your street, simply look out your window at the rock. If the
rock is wet, it's raining. If the rock is white, it's snowing. If
the rock is easy to see, it's sunny. If it's hard to see, it's
cloudy. If the string is not perpendicular to the tree branch, it's
windy. A missing rock indicates tornado or hurricane conditions.
During my five decades of weather watching, this is the only method
that has proven to be 100% accurate, 100% of the time.
