While working for a Northeast Ohio pet groomer, Sara Gustafson discovered she not only had a talent for the business, but also a love for the pets placed in her care. When she found Spoiled & Pampered Dawggy in Avon Lake was for sale in 2004, Sara knew it was time to go into business for herself. We visited with Sara recently, and listened as she provided this overview of the services available at Spoiled & Pampered Dawggy;

Spoiled & Pampered Dawggy specializes in all breed professional pet grooming for dogs. Our services include haircuts, baths, ear cleaning, and nail trimming. We do all of the standard breed cuts, in addition to custom cuts based on the owners' preferences. Appointments are necessary for baths and haircuts, although nail trims can be done on a walk-in basis.

A normal grooming session will take between two and three hours. and our three professionally trained groomers call the owners to let them know when their pet is done. We are open Saturday and two evenings each week for the convenience of customers who work during the day, or they can drop their dog off in the morning and pick them up on their way home from work.

Our shop uses a fresh-scent shampoo to keep the dogs smelling fresh longer and a medicated shampoo with moisturizers for dogs with skin allergies. Some customers bring their own shampoo if they have a preference or a shampoo that has been prescribed for their dog by their vet. We hand-dry the majority of the dogs we groom so they are do not become stressed in the crates. Most dogs are uncomfortable when enclosed in small areas and are much happier when they are free to move around. Other dogs respond better to being dried in the crate so we tailor our services to the individual dog's needs and their owners preferences.
